An event that not only filmmakers & actors enjoy, but enjoyed worldwide, has been cancelled after 23 incredible years. Due to “terrible and irresponsible mismanagement” or funds, founder, John Polson, has put a hold on this year’s TROPFEST.
Tropfest began in 1993 in Sydney’s cafe – Tropicana, where organised screenings were held. It has since expanded to New Zealand, South-East Asia, North America & the Middle East.
It has been a sad time for all, especially the 16 filmmaker finalists. Mr Polson has said “Despite a challenging sponsorship climate, Tropfest has done reasonably well in attracting support this year; however, to my great surprise, the management company has informed us that it is unable to proceed.”
According to recent updates on social media, Tropfest will be back on Valentine’s Day 2016! Film lovers rejoice!
