The Balanced Body
A great exercise routine is one that includes balance and coordination exercises that challenge the body and develop better reactions to changing stimuli for the muscles and the nervous system. Whether a sportsman needs better control of his body and the equipment to play his game, or a child is learning to ride their first bicycle without support, practising specific movements in postural awareness, balance and muscle isolation is important for all fitness levels and especially for seniors who may be prone to dizziness or falls. Try working different body parts at the same time or add an unstable surface to classic fitness exercises like squats, standing bicep barbell curls, side leg or arm raises, after you are able to perform the move correctly by starting out on the floor.
